Ruthie In Disguise @ Harvey Nichols

Most of the people reading this blog are bodies I’ve encountered when wandering around in a bright orange fireproof suit and looking like I’ve been up since 5am. Which, in truth is what time I probably did get up anyway.

These early mornings and unflattering clothes often leave me looking a little dishevelled and wondering where on earth the glamour has gone from my life, so, when Lily Allen rolled into Harvey Nichols looking incredible – despite being on a UK tour promoting her new clothing range, Lucy In Disguise AND planning her wedding – I realised there was something missing in my life. A make up artist.

A few days later, I heard on the grapevine that Harvey Nichols were offering people the chance to get ‘the Lily Allen look’ courtesy of Giorgio Armani’s make up counter manager, Zuzanna Kaleta. Who transformed Lily into a sultry siren on the day she visited the Leeds store.

Obviously not one to shy away from some make up tips and the chance to try on dresses that cost more than your ‘Asda Big Shop’ yet make you look far more delicious than the maxi dress I bought from George, I wandered on down.

Having lost 2 stone in the past year, I have never regained the confidence I had as a sparky young 18 year old, so to have Zuzanna show me just how beautiful you can look by using the right products and applying then in a particular way was something that I would be eternally grateful for.

I must say, the light Master Primer is most certainly a must—have for any girl’s handbag, whilst the Eyes to kill Eye Colour in champagne is just the most luxurious thing to ever grace these eyelids. Finally, we went for dramatic lips, which I am sure many of you know, I am a big believer in, and we used Rouge d’Armani Number 400. The lipstick had incredible staying power, and didn’t leave me with just a line around the outer rim of my lip after I had eaten and drank during the day.

After I’d finished looking fabulous, I decided to try on some of the Lucy In Disguise dresses which, I must say, are so beautiful I want to dress up in them each and every day.

Obviously to sit in such a renowned store as Harvey Nichols, they are of great quality, but they still have the quirky edge that we have seen from lily during her time as a musician, and I think that is what makes them so unique! You simply must pop in and have a look next time you’re passing Harvey Nichols!

So, this was me, after a hour-long make up session and a lot of talk about products…. its quite surprising how I can scrub up given the right materials. Don’t you think?
